    My Go-To Shoes

One perk of having a shoe store is that I am given the opportunity to try many pairs of shoes. I am an equal opportunity shoe wearer. So, I thought I would give you a look into a day in the life of my feet.

Shoe technology constantly changes, while still catering to what the average patron seeks in footwear. The last few years we have been seeing a huge uptick in high cushion shoes (such as HOKA). This means many brand-new shoes are looking to have a place in the market and so there are more higher cushion options from well-known brands adapting to the new demands.

In my younger days, I wanted to feel the road and push the limits. Well, that has changed a lot and now and while that is still true, I appreciate the softness of the cushion shoes. You'll see a nice variety of footwear I've been reaching for this summer. Here is a snippet of my spring and summer go-to shoes of 2023.

    Craft Nordlite Ultra

This is my top pick right now for an all-around go-to shoe. I love its hybrid traction outsole that makes it functional for so many uses athletically - on the roads & light trails - but with it's great cushioning you can guarantee it's coming with me when I travel.

    Oofos Ooriginal

This isn't your ordinary flip-flop. It's a recovery flip-flop with technology that absorbs 37% more impact than traditional footwear foam materials to reduce the stress on your feet and joints. If I'm going to flip something onto my feet in the summer, I'm going to flip on these. Of course, I do not put these on to go for a run, but I DO mow the lawn with these shoes.

    Saucony Xodus Ultra

This neutral trail shoe provides incredible traction. I do enjoy trail running and use it on the trails (High Cliff State Park trails being on the top of the list), but these are also one of my go-to shoes for yardwork.

    Saucony Endorphin Speed

Saucony calls out this shoe as great for "go-fast" days. I do agree. However, I also love it for my long runs. It is designed with a winged plate that helps support your run from toe-off to landing & its everything you need to push your pace with ease -- or just log a few more miles with ease.

    Saucony Endorphin Pro

When I do want to go fast, I reach for these. The one in the picture on the right is the previous generation of the one we have linked or for you. The Endurance Pros are my fast day & race day shoes.

    Hoka Mach 5

According to Hoka, this shoe is great for everyday runs and racing. I'd like to also add housework & yard work. When I have a long list-of two do's, I like something soft yet snappy underfoot.

    Swiftwick Maxus Zero (Socks!)

No, this is not a shoe. It is a sock. I use it as a shoe when I swordfight. The plush footbed wicks moisture incredibly well, and it's thin, lightweight upper let's my feet breathe.

    Brooks Ghost

Last but certainly not least is the Brooks Ghost. This shoe is an old-faithful go-to of mine that not only hits the roads, but does the grocery shopping and the occasional Home Depot stroll.
